Mission Bay Aquatic Center will be offering a US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling course this September. Whether you’re looking for your first experience at the helm of a powerboat, or are aiming to become a safer skipper, this course is designed to give you the knowledge and confidence you need to have the best possible boating experience. The course begins September 7 and meets Thursday evenings from 5pm-8pm. In addition to classroom sessions, there will be an on-the-water practical session on Sunday September 24 from 10am-1pm.
The course will consist of classroom discussions and on-the-water practical application, and will cover powerboat handling skills, trailering, basic navigation, troubleshooting, and much more. Successful completion of the course will earn you a US Powerboat Safe Powerboat Handling certification (NASBLA approved). US Powerboating is the “National leader in on-the-water powerboat training and education.”
This certification will satisfy California’s new boaters card requirement which begin being implemented in January 2018. To learn more about the California Boater Card please visit dbw.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=29373.
