In collaboration with the Department of Boating and Waterways, we will be celebrating National Safe Boating Day on Sunday, May 20th and we hope you will join us! We will have many fun activities happening throughout the day to make sure that this summer is a fun, and more importantly, safe experience on and around the water.
Free Paddling and Sailing Safety Courses
We are offering a limited number of free spots in classes happening this day. If you would like to become qualified to rent our Hobie Getaways or Laser sailboats you can attend a free Small Boat Sailing Safety Course. This course is intended for experienced sailors looking to expand their safety knowledge on the water and be able to rent our sailboats in the future. Another great option for less experienced sailors is our First Sail course which is a great introduction into keelboat sailing taught on our 24-foot keelboat. If an introduction to paddling seems more your style, we are offering an Open Water Stand Up Paddling Safety course taught by paddling expert Dr. Jose Gonzalez. For more details about these free classes or to register visit: https://www.mbaquaticcenter.com/news/2018/05/register-free-sailing-paddling-safety-course-may-20th/
Free Life Jacket Giveaway
We want to ensure that you are well equipped for a safe, enjoyable time on and around the water which is why we will be giving away free youth and adult life jackets. If you do not have a life jacket, you can pick one up from 8:00am-6:00pm while supplies last.
Life jackets are essential safety equipment for those spending time on or around the water. Last year drowning was reported as the cause of death in three-fourths of all boating related fatalities. Approximately 85 percent of those who drowned were not wearing lifejackets.
Need some fun gear for the summer? We will be selling used equipment from 9am-12pm at our semi-annual used equipment sale. Our inventory will include 36 single kayaks for only $75 each. We will also be selling tandem kayaks, stand up paddleboards, wakeboards, surfboards, wakesurf boards, and wakeboarding helmets. For a more detailed list of what will be available for sale visit: https://www.mbaquaticcenter.com/news/2018/05/get-summer-watersports-gear-used-equipment-sale/
Free Vessel Safety Inspections
To give you peace of mind that your watercraft is up to safety standards and that you will be able to enjoy a fun and safe time on the water this summer, a representative from the US Coast Guard Auxiliary will be conducting free vessel safety inspections.
