Register for a free sailing or paddling safety course on May 19th

Safeboating Day May 19, 2019

In celebration of National Safe Boating Week and sponsored by the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways we will be offering a limited number of FREE sailing and paddling safety courses on May 19th.  Space is limited so sign up soon because these classes will fill up quickly.

First Sail

The First Sail experience features basic sailing hands-on learning that will cover topics including how a sail works, parts of a sailboat, points of sail, and important safety guidelines.  This two-hour course is perfect for those who want to experience sailing before committing to a full-length course.  Choose a course below to register:

Small Boat Safety Training

This class is perfect for experienced sailors who want to become qualified to rent Hobie Getaways at MBAC. After covering boat launching and rigging procedures you will set sail to verify your skills and practice a capsize recovery (be prepared to get in the water). Participants must already posses the skills to sail upwind and downwind in order to become qualified to rent at MBAC. Choose a course below to register:

Stand Up Paddling-Basic Skills & Safety

Learn the concepts of safe paddling from qualified paddling instructors. You will begin on land and then get out on Mission Bay for a paddle tour. This is a great, safe introduction to paddling, even for those with no previous experience on the water. Choose a course below to register:
