Keelboat Sailing Safety Courses

To celebrate Boating Safety Day, we are offering a limited number of scholarships for keelboat sailing safety courses where students will learn the fundamentals of sailing, rigging, float plans, and other important sailing safety principles. This course is open to participants of all levels, though students must be “water safe” and able to swim 50 meters and tread water comfortably. Please select a course from the list below and use coupon code boatsafe2024 to register:

Open Water Kayaking Safety and Open Water SUP Safety Courses

On Boating Safety Day, we are offering two different no-cost course options for novice or experienced stand up paddlers or kayakers who want to become more proficient or confident in their paddling skills. Open Water Kayaking Safety will acquaint participants with the sport of kayaking and give them the opportunity to practice maneuvers to safely control a kayak while enjoying a guided tour of Mission Bay. Open Water SUP Safety will cover topics such as paddle technique, life jackets, weather, and other safety topics for the aspiring stand up paddler. Both courses have limited space and require advanced registration. Please select a class from the list below and use coupon code boatsafe2024 to register:

Safe Powerboat Handling Courses

The Safe Powerboat Handling Course is an introduction to powerboat safety concepts. Topics will include required equipment, navigation rules, collision avoidance, safety concepts, and communications. This will include hands-on experience driving a powerboat at slow speeds, docking, and maneuvering in close quarters. At the end of this class you will have a powerboat foundation and will know the next steps necessary to earn your California Boater Card.
