In collaboration with the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways, we will be celebrating National Safe Boating Day on Sunday, May 19th and we hope you will join us! We will have many fun activities happening throughout the day to make sure that this summer is a fun, and more importantly, safe experience on and around the water.
Free Paddling and Sailing Safety Courses
For Safe Boating Day are offering a limited number of free spots in classes happening this day. If you would like to become qualified to rent our Hobie Getaway sailboats you can attend a free Hobie Safety Qualification Class. This course is intended for experienced sailors looking to expand their safety knowledge on the water and be able to rent our Hobie Getaways. Another great option for novice sailors is our First Sail course which is a great introduction into keelboat sailing taught on our 24-foot keelboat. If an introduction to paddling seems more your style, we are offering a limited number of free spaces to join our Stand Up Paddling-Basic Skills and Safety course taught by qualified paddling instructors. Free Life Jacket Giveaway
We want to ensure that you are well equipped for a safe, enjoyable time on and around the water which is why we will be giving away a limited amount of free youth and adult life jackets. If you do not have a life jacket, you can pick one up from 9:00am-12:00pm while supplies last.
Life jackets are essential safety equipment for those spending time on or around the water. Last year drowning was reported as the cause of death in three-fourths of all boating related fatalities. Approximately 85 percent of those who drowned were not wearing life jackets.
Used Equipment Sale
Need some fun gear for the summer? We will be selling used equipment from 9am-12pm at our semi-annual used equipment sale. Inventory will include used stand up paddleboards, wakeboards, surfboards, an 8HP Yamaha outboard engine, and a 1986 Compac 23 sailboat.
