Help keep Mission Beach beautiful by volunteering with us to clean up the beach! We encourage you to join this community effort on Sunday, April 14th from 9am-12pm. Aside from spending quality time outdoors and getting some steps in, you’ll help create a safer environment for marine life and those who enjoy the beach.
To volunteer, check in at Mission Bay Aquatic Center between 9am-12pm to pick up supplies. Spend part of the morning cleaning an area of the beach or bay and then return the trash and recyclables you’ve collected to MBAC to be properly disposed of. During previous clean ups, we’ve collected over 250 pounds of trash and recyclables off our local beaches. The amount of trash collected and the overall impact of the clean up will be reported to the California Coastal Commission and I Love A Clean San Diego.
You can also join thousands of international coastal clean up volunteers by tracking and reporting what you collect using the Clean Swell App. Watch the short video below to learn how!
To further reduce waste we encourage you to bring your own gloves, bucket, and reusable water bottle to use during the clean up! Please also wear closed-toe shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.
We hope to see you there!
