The Mission Bay Aquatic Center invites students between the ages of 6-17 to take part in a special STEM Explorations- The Ocean, Clean Water and YOU event in honor of Coastal Cleanup Day on September 21st from 9:00am to 11:30am. This program provides a unique opportunity for students to explore human’s important relationship with the ocean through hands-on, interactive activities that inspire stewardship and empower students to facilitate real change in their community.

Protecting Our Ocean: 50 pounds of trash collected at MBAC Beach Cleanup
Mission Bay Aquatic Center and 51 community volunteers cleared over 24 pounds of trash and 26 pounds of recycling during the beach cleanup on April 14th! This was one of the most memorable beach clean-ups to date with volunteers collecting some unique and unusual items!

MBAC spreads sustainable message at UCSD’s 8th Annual Meet the Beach event
Every year UC San Diego Recreation hosts Meet the Beach, a “giant beach party for UCSD’s freshmen and first year grad and transfer students.” This year Mission Bay Aquatic Center staff joined the 3,000 student celebration by distributing reusable straws in hopes of spreading awareness about plastic pollution in our oceans.
