MBAC and Aztec Adventures present an adventure film double feature at the new Aztec Student Union

SDSU
On March 4th, the Mission Bay Aquatic Center and Aztec Adventures are celebrating the opening of the new Aztec Student Union on the SDSU campus with a movie night presentation of  the films Slow is Fast and 180 Degrees South.  The event is one of many Student Union Grand Dedication Week events and is sure to be a fun one with giveaways, raffle prizes, and a great adventure film double feature.

Patagonia’s Slow is Fast follows three young adventurers as they ride bikes down the California coast hoping to see their home state in a new, slower-paced light — surfing, camping, staying with friends and lending a hand wherever they could to earn their keep. Preview- Slow is Fast

180 Degrees South is the story of Conquerors of the Useless following Jeff Johnson as he retraces the epic 1968 journey of his heroes Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins to Patagonia. Along the way he gets shipwrecked off Easter Island, surfs the longest wave of his life – and prepares himself for a rare ascent of Cerro Corcovado. Jeff’s life turns when he meets up in a rainy hut with Chouinard and Tompkins who, once driven purely by a love of climbing and surfing, now value above all the experience of raw nature – and have come to Patagonia to spend their fortunes to protect it. Doors open to this event at 6pm, with the show beginning at 6:30pm on March 4th.  Due to the popularity of this movie screening, it will be a ticketed event with limited availability.  If you are interested in attending, and would like tickets, please e-mail us at mb**@sd**.edu.

The event is being held in the Aztec Student Union’s 300-seat theater. The 4-story center features over 206,000 square feet of space for students to utilize while on campus.  Features include a satellite fitness center, a state-of-the-art bowling and games center, new dining options, lounges, meeting rooms, all while designed in hopes to achieve LEED Platinum certification.  There are several opportunities to come and check out the new center during the Grand Dedication Week events being held March 3-8, with the ribbon cutting ceremony happening on March 7.  For a complete list of scheduled events, visit http://as.sdsu.edu/aztec-student-union/grand_opening.php
