The world’s top surfers will be competing for a $425,000 prize purse as the O’Neill Cold Water Classic returns to Santa Cruz as an ASP World Tour Event, November 1-11. The event is the second to last stop of the Tour and maytermine the 2012 world champion.
If you haven’t been following the tour, four surfers are locked in a tight race to be this year’s world champion, so the competition is sure to heat up the cold water of Santa Cruz’s legendary Steamer Lane surf spot. The challenging break hugs almost vertical sandstone cliffs providing an arena-like venue ideal for viewing competitive surfing, while providing an element of risk to the competitors who skirt the jagged rocks below.

The Coldwater Classic was upgraded to a ASP World Tour Event in recognition of O’Neill’s 60th Anniversary. MBAC uses O’Neill wesuits exclusively in classes and programs.
